Our National Anthems
Australia effectively has two national anthems. The first, Advance Australia Fair, is the official one. The second, Waltzing Matilda, is the unofficial anthem.
The popularity of Waltzing Matilda can probably be attibuted to the fact that God Save The Queen was the official anthem until 1984 and so many Australians had no wish for that to be sung. Indeed, I can even remember going to football finals as a young bloke and the crowd drowning out the anthem.
